This file is about weaving active and passive instrumentation into one composition.

The active instruments are: sax, bass, piano & drums. They're the driving force behind this composition.

The passive instruments are: guitar harmonics, muted trumpet, French horn, rhodes & organ. This is where the texture comes into play, each sound complements every other. The sum of the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

Mute various tracks with the Mute Buttons found at the top of the mixing console. Notice how threadbare the piece sounds. The groove is great, but much of the character is lacking. Layers of passive instrumentation add character to music. Explore the
